Janet Ann (Kunkle) Braden

Janet Ann (Kunkle) Braden, 77 of Peru passed away at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 18, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Kokomo, IN on October 7, 1944, the daughter of Ellis and Nancy (Hinkle) Kunkle. Janet married Steven L. Braden on January 11, 1964, and he survives.

Janet was a 1962 graduate of Tipton Township School and a 1963 graduate of Business College Logansport. Her greatest joys in life were her family as a homemaker. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Janet was a member of Bennetts Switch Community Church, Pioneer Power Tractor Club, & Purdue Extension Homemakers. She loved reading but most of her time was spent quilting. Whether it was entering quilting projects in the Miami Co. 4-H open show and winning best of show or making hundreds of baby quilts for family, friends, and Birthright of Peru she loved the look of joy a quilt gave.

Janet is survived by her husband Steve, her daughter Sherri Braden of Buckeye, AZ, her son Kent (Angie) Braden, of Peru; grandchildren Stacia (Jacob) Working, Morgan Braden, Alyson Braden, and Nicholas Braden; great granddaughter Holland Working; sisters Rita Lyzen, and Donna (Bill) Percy, and a brother Roger (Rose) Kunkle; along with several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Randy Braden, sister-in-law Kay Long, brother-in-law’s Joe Long & Bill Lyzen.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 12:00-2:00 pm, April 25, 2022, at Bennetts Switch Community Church, 2261 IN-18, Kokomo, IN. A service celebrating the life of Janet Braden will be held at 2pm, following the visitation at the church, with Pastor Kenney Cole officiating. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Bennetts Switch Community Church.
