James (Jim) Lewis Starkey

James Lewis Starkey (Jim), 87 of Swayzee, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28th, 2023 in Marion, IN.

Jim was born in Bunker Hill, IN on August 3, 1935. His parents were Marion and Louise (Rains) Starkey. Jim married Lois Faye Morgan of Peru, IN, recently celebrating 65 years of marriage. He served in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years. Jim worked for General Motors at Delco Electronics in Kokomo for 30 years. He loved the Lord and attended Healing Heart Church of God in Marion, IN. He enjoyed playing his guitars and was often found joining in the worship service and men’s “sings”. Jim was an avid gardener and looked forward to tilling and planting his garden each year. He was a volunteer firefighter at the Bunker Hill Fire Department for several years.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Gene, Dale, Bob, Ronnie and Sammy Joe Starkey; and great-grandson Austin Jay Ramos. The memories of his life will be forever cherished by his wife Lois, brothers Morris and Donna Starkey, Max and Leah Starkey, Ralph and Pat Starkey; and sister Judy and Mike Golitko; and sister-in-laws Lela Starkey and Shirley Morgan; sons Joe and Annette Starkey, Jimmy Starkey and daughter Sue and David Ramos. Jim is also missed by his grandchildren; Jamie, Jerid and Jonathan Ramos; and Cory, Daniel, Jesse, Samuel, Aaron, Stacey and Ashley Starkey; 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and all his nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Allen Funeral Home, 136 South Elm Street, Bunker Hill, IN. Visitation is Tuesday, May 2nd from 4pm to 7 pm. and funeral services are Wednesday, May 3rd at 11 am with Pastor Delmar Fenwick officiating. Memorial contributions may be donated to Healing Heart Church of God, 2701 S Western Ave, Marion, IN 46953. Jim’s pallbearers will be his grandchildren as he will be laid to rest at Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill, where graveside services will be conducted, including military honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.

The family extends special thanks to the caregivers and staff at the V.A. and Marion General Hospital for their care, kindness, compassion and professionalism.
