James Agee Sanders

James A. Sanders, 93 of Peru, Indiana went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning May 31st 2025.

James was born to William M. and Amie M. Sanders on March 14th 1932 in Lamar, Arkansas. The family moved to Sikeston, Missouri when James was 9 years old. They remained there until they moved to Peru, Indiana in the early 50’s, where James met his wife, Lula B. Sanders. They remained in Peru, Indiana and were married March 5th 1960.

Jim was a hardworking man. He was a man’s – man!

Jim worked and retired from General Tire in Wabash, Indiana. He was also a farmer. They moved from Peru, Indiana to Denver, Indiana in January of 1973 and raised their family on the farm. Dad loved the farm, raising the animals, and the garden. He also loved fishing. Jim was a God-fearing Christian and was not afraid to share his convictions. He loved going camping and the outdoors.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a devoted deacon of the church for over 50 years.

Jim was a great father, grandfather, husband and friend. Everyone loved him. He raised 2 sons, James “Bart” Sanders and Brett Sanders both of Peru, Indiana. Jim was a Korean War Veteran; he was in the Navy for 5 years.

The remaining survivors are: son, James “Bart” Sanders, 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brett Sanders and wife, Lula B. Sanders.

Friends may call Thursday, June 5 from 11am to 1pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru. The funeral service will follow at 1pm. Burial will take place at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport, Indiana.
