Jackie Jewell Pearcy, 87, from Miami, IN. passed away on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Peru, IN. He was born on October 12th, 1934 in Miami, IN. to Ralph H. Pearcy and Sadie (Quinn) Pearcy. On March 20th, 1968, he married Nona Rickard, who preceded him in death on May 25th, 2020.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Fielding L. Pearcy, on August 24th, 1980. He is survived by one son, Ralph L. Pearcy, of Miami, IN.
He graduated from Clay Township High School, Miami County, in 1952. He was a farmer for the better part of his life, retiring from farming in the late 1980’s. He then changed careers and started working at W.C. Redmon Co., Peru IN. until his permanent retirement in 1999.
He was very big into genealogy and history, especially of the town of Miami. People always came to him if they wanted to know anything about mutual ancestors or history of the town.
He was a member of the Miami United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and a charter member of the Mid-America Threshing and Antique Association, Tipton, IN. He was an avid antique enthusiast, collecting many items in addition to antique tractors and related equipment. His favorite antique tractor in his collection was the first one that he purchased, a 1936 Huber that he bought in the mid 1960’s. He enjoyed attending antique tractor shows, taking a special interest in the old-style ones with steel wheels. This hobby and enthusiasm for these types of shows and equipment led to a family tradition starting in 1987 and carried on for 30 plus years. He, Nona, and Ralph started going to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa for an annual trip to the Mid-West Old Threshers Reunion, the largest steam engine and antique tractor show in the country.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aperion Estates Assisted Living Facility and Hickory Creek Nursing Home who took wonderful care of him during the final couple months of his life.
