Helena L. (Townsend) White

Helena L. White, 90, of Peru passed away at Blair Ridge Health Campus on Monday, February 17, 2025.

She was born in Bowen, Kentucky on June 14, 1934 to the late William and Edna (Hudson) Townsend.

Helena married Russell White who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and attended Zion Chapel Church in Peru.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis (Raber) Morehouse of Bradenton, Florida, Gary Raber of Peru, Indiana, granddaughter, Sherry Raber, great granddaughters, Shelbey Brown, Lily Raber, brother, Jay (Bonnie) Townsend of Monroe, Georgia, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Jones of Peru, Indiana.

Helena is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Debby Raber, brothers, William Townsend Jr., Robert Townsend, George Townsend, Raymond “Charlie” (Marie) Reed, and sisters, Thelma Arthur and Jonetta Jones.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Zion Chapel Church, 915 South Broadway, Peru, Indiana. The funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Helena will be laid to rest next to her husband, Russell, in Mount Hope Cemetery.
