Hayes "Doug" Douglas Hendrix

Hayes “Doug” Douglas Hendrix, 78, of Peru, Indiana passed away on Friday, October 10,2025 at Marion Health in Marion, Indiana.

He was born on October 10,1947 in Hyden, Kentucky to Dewey and Omie (Day) Hendrix. On January 15, 1971, Doug married Louise (Hight) and she survives.

Doug was a Unites States Army Veteran. He worked several different jobs thru the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and flower gardening. He was most proud of his family though. He enjoyed being a dad and grandpa.

He is survived by his wife and 3 children: Mark E. Hendrix of Peru, Indiana, Douglas (Melissa) Hendrix of Greentown, Indiana, and Beth (Gary) Binkerd of Roann, Indiana; 8 grandchildren: Mark Hendrix, Jenna Hendrix, Mitchel Hendrix, Alyssa Begley, Jayla Kremer, Ty Kremer, Sierra Davis, Kirstin Binkerd; and 5 great grandchildren: Hunter Hendrix, Delainey Hendrix, Killian Marrs, Skyla Davis, and Gannon Peavler. Also surviving are 5 brother and sisters-in-law: John (Becky) Hight of Wabash, Indiana, Carol Heitzman of Peru, Indiana, Mary (Don) Stellar of Wabash, Indiana, Dale (Jyl) Hight of Peru, Indiana, and Albert Barr of Wabash, Indiana. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and brother Fred Hendrix

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15,2025 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Steve Reshkus officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru. Military honors will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites team.
