Grace Louanna Bowman
Grace Louanna (Sonafrank) Bowman, 94, of Peru passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Dukes Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Peru, Indiana on November 21, 1927 to Joseph and Della (Heibert) Sonafrank. Grace married Paul L. Bowman on December 31, 1946. They were married for 62 years before his death in 2008.
Grace worked at Senger Dry Goods and later retired from General Tire as a factory worker. She was an avid baker and great seamstress. Grace loved the Bible and devoted her time to becoming a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandkids, and great grandkids. Grace took great pleasure in visiting Long Lake and Lukens Lake for picnics on the weekend. She was the most kind, loving mom, grandma, great grandma, and friend. The simple things in life meant the most to her.
Grace is survived by her children; Julene Bowen, Richard Bowman, Thomas (Kristie) Bowman, and Curtis (Kathy) Bowman, 8 grandchildren; Devon Bowen, Linette Bowen-Carver, Crystal (Tracy) Aikman, Misty Bowen, Holly (Chris) Blair, Dustina (Steve) Stout, Jennifer (Gregory) Miller, and Zachary (Katrina) Bowman, 15 great grandchildren; Mason and Hunter Bowen, Gabe, Sylvia, Zeke, Jordan, and Danielle Stout, Elsie and Riley Miller, Kinley and Reid Bowman, Carli and Kaili Aikman, and Jake and Hayden Blair, 1 great-great granddaughter, Sawyer Hewitt, brothers; Paul Dale Sonafrank, David Sonafrank, and James Sonafrank, and sisters; Julia Beenblossom, Katherine “Kay” Moore, and Mary Fultz. She is also survived by her special friends; Lorraine Bretzman, Freida Fischer, and chauffer, Carl Bretzman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Paul Bowman Jr., parents, brothers; William, Richard, and Joseph Sonafrank Jr., and sister, Joann Wylam.
Grace touched the lives of so many people and she will always hold a special place in the hearts of many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 10am to 12pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, 331 West Sixth Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 12pm with Pastor Mark Elliott and Pastor Tony Winter officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Indiana.
Grace celebrated her homecoming to be with Jesus. The love and comfort from the wonderful staff of Dukes Memorial Hospital made her journey as joyful and peaceful as possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the First Church of the Nazarene.
