George Barr Obituary

George "Don" Barr, was born on April 26, 1940 in Miami County and departed this life Tuesday, October 13, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was the son of Paul and Everal Barr. Don retired from Square D. Don was an avid fisherman and would show off his fish pictures and tell fish stories to everyone. Recently, Don attended Millers Merry Manor where he looked forward to doing Rocksteady Boxing. He was a member of Center Chapel Church.

Don is survived by his wife, Sondra Barr of 58 years, his children Donna Kay Poe (Pete); Randy Barr (Christy); Gayle Darland (Vince); and Tim Barr. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by 2 brothers, Ralph Barr (Jean) and Gene Barr, 2 sisters Roberta Johnson and Lucille Barr-Robertson; 11 grandchildren, Justin Poe, Dustin Poe, Jessica Husband, Candis Huffman, Erika King, Alex Barr, Celeste Kanka, Madelyn Kanka, Sylvia Sylvester, Joseph Barr and Audrey Kanka; 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Everal Barr, one brother, Allen Barr and one daughter Kathleen "Kathy" Barr.

Funeral visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 9am-11am at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. A separate private graveside memorial for immediate family will follow with Brother Vince Darland officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Millers Merry Manor/Rocksteady Boxing.
