Gary Dean Zody, 78, of Kokomo, Indiana (formerly of Peru) passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
He was born in Peru to the late Harry and Mary (Cain) Zody on February 19, 1947.
Gary married Terri (Hall) on November 20, 1976 and she survives. He was enlisted in the United States Army for 22 years and later worked for Miami Trucking and Chrysler.
Gary enjoyed fishing, word puzzles, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also liked Farmall Tractors. Gary was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1152 in Kokomo, DAV Chapter 28 in Kokomo, 40-8 in Kokomo, and Healing Grounds in Kokomo. He was also a member of the ”Liars Club” in Miami, Indiana.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his daughters, Angel (Chris) McCord of Peru, Deanette Zody Morecraft of Wabash, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brothers, Frank (Joyce) Zody of Kokomo, Joe Zody of Kokomo, Rex Zody of Kokomo, Carl “Butch” Zody of Clinton, Tennessee, sisters, Marg Hinkle of Peru, Irene (Bob) Ruhl of Columbus, Ohio, and his beloved 8 pound yorkie, Sierra.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary Duane Zody, and siblings, Glen Zody, Wayne Zody, Elzena Wagner, and Sue Squires.
Visitation will be held from 10am to 2pm on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. The funeral service will follow at 2pm with Pastor K.M Lord officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Fe Cemetery.
Military Rites will be provided by the Indiana Patriot Guard, VFW Post 1152, DAV Chapter 28, 40-8, and the Indiana Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to the National MS Society and/or the American Cancer Society in Gary’s honor.
