Garnet "Leota" (Reynalds) Morecraft

Garnet “Leota” Morecraft, 97, of Peru went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2018 at Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru.

She was born on May 24, 1921  to William and Marie Reynolds of Cass County, Indiana.  Leota had two brothers, Floyd Joseph and Melvin Reynolds both of Cass County, Indiana who preceded her in death. 

Leota married C.V. “Jack” Morecraft on July 7, 1940.  They had three children.  John (Carolyn) Morecraft,  Peru, Indiana, Marlene Russell, Gulfport, Mississippi, and Michael (Sandy) Morecraft, Peru, Indiana. 

John preceded her in death on March 5, 2012.

Leota owned and operated Morecraft’s Gift Shop and Candy Kitchen for many years.  She was also a member of the Chapel of Praise in Peru, Indiana.

Leota had ten grandchildren:  Michelle Jumper, Macy, Indiana; Linda (Greg) Sutton, Amboy, Indiana; Kirk (Sherry) Russell, Eastampton, New Jersey; David (Tanya) Russell, Atlanta, Georgia; William Russell, Springville, Tennessee; Jeri Lynn Breton, Wentzsville, Missouri; Thomas Morecraft, Peru, Indiana; Cynthia (Seth) Loe, Peru, Indiana; Robert (Kendra) Morecraft, Peru, Indiana; and Suzanne (Lloyd) Kerns, Peru, Indiana.  She also has 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great- great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 4pm-7pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana and also one hour prior to the time of service which   will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11am at Chapel of Praise, 2430 S. Business 31, Peru, Indiana with Pastor Michael Norton officiating.  Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.  Donations in her memory can be made to the Chapel of Praise.
