On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Frances Lee Bender Mannies passed away after a short illness.
Born on April 3, 1939, Frances was the daughter of Cecil Bender and Velma Keith. She married Arville Mannies on July 15, 1956. Frances is survived by their 2 children, Wayne (Jane) Mannies, and Vickie(Darrell) Medley, Peru; as well as their grandchildren, Becky (Josh) Ulery, Ben (Allison) Mannies, Ashley Appleton, Jeremy (Courtney) Appleton, Chad (Chelsey) Mooney, Shanna (Craig) Stoll, Jenny (Jon) Cole, Brandon Medley; and great-grandchildren Jordyn, Lukas and Blake Ulery, Conner Appleton, Eila Mooney, Gabe and Faith King, Alivia Zell, and Jaxon Cole. Frances also leaves behind her beloved sister, Joann Draper, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arville, and brother-in-law Wayne Draper.
Frances chose homemaker as her fulltime career and was essential as business manager for Arville’s well known and busy construction business. She enjoyed spending time outside with her many flowers that she tended to with great care, camping with family, and spending time with her friends. She made many adventures in the family’s woods available to Wayne and Vickie, then again with her grandchildren. Frances always took the time to enjoy listening to their stories about those adventures. She was a long time member of Oakdale Baptist church and made many lifelong friends there. Frances will be dearly missed at every family function that she always made sure to either organize or attend.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 10am – 12pm, with services immediately following at Flowers Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Pastor Robert Marcus will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Indiana.
