Evelyn McMahan Obituary

Evelyn McMahan, 86, of Peru, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her residence.

She was born in Wabash County on December 12, 1934 to Floyd and Livina (Hahn) Mygrant.  She was a 1954 graduate of Peru High School.  She married Wayne I. “Mac” McMahan on November 19, 1953, and he preceded her in death on October 29, 2003.  She retired as a production line worker from General Tire in Wabash.  She was a hard worker and caregiver.  She loved her family, mowing, word searches and Bible study.  She was a member of the Peru Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by her children: Vicky Gochenour (husband Steve) of Columbus, Theresa Payton (Tyrone) of Indianapolis, Tina Shumpert of Indianapolis, and Tya Smith (husband Brian) of Peru; as well as 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are sisters Mary Jenkins of Bunker Hill, and Barbara Jo Behny of Gilead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Everett Mygrant and Elbert Mygrant, and sisters Alice Berkheiser, Molly Saltz, and Bonnie Mygrant.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Indiana, with Pastor Phil Cruea officiating.
