Earline Genevieve (Dildine) Slajs, 88, of Peru passed away at Blair Ridge Health Campus on Friday, March 24, 2023.
She was born in Steele, Missouri to the late Owen and Ruby (Thomas) Dildine on January 9, 1935. She married Jack W. Slajs on October 3, 1952 and they were married for 63 years prior to his passing on January 30, 2016.
Jack and Earline traveled the world due to his service in the United States Air Force. They lived in several states including: California, Oregon, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida.
While living in Peru, Jack and Earline founded the Independent Christian Fellowship Church. Earline was employed by American Stationary for many years. She began as a factory worker and later worked her way up to the office staff. She enjoyed sewing, painting, and also playing the piano and singing at church.
She is survived by her son, Anthony “Tony” Slajs of Fremont, California.
Earline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Owen Dildine and Jerry Dildine, and sisters; Margaret Colley and Mildred Scott.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 12pm to 2pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. The funeral service will follow at 2pm. Internment will take place next to her husband, Jack, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
