Donald “Don” Ray Goley

May 28, 1937 – January 24, 2026 (age 88)

Donald Ray Goley age 88, of Fairfield, OH went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Don was born May 28, 1937, in Harlan County, Kentucky to John Patrick and Lucy (Saylor) Goley.  He graduated from Wallins High School in Wallins Creek KY in 1957.  He married Margaret Ellen Waymire November 19, 1961, in Peru, IN.

He served in the U.S. Army from November 1961 to November 1967.  He worked for the C&O Railroad starting as a Fireman and worked his way up to become a CSX Locomotive Engineer.  He retired in 2002 after 39 years of service. Don was a member of the Brotherhood of Fireman and Locomotive Engineers and a member of the United Transportation Union.

He was also a member of the Peru Grace Brethren Church.  Don and Margaret moved to Fairfield, OH in 1987 and lived there for the rest of their married life.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Ellen (Waymire) Goley, sister Fay Walker, 3 sons (Michael, Brian and his wife Barb, and Craig and his wife Jodi) and 5 grandchildren (Brittney, Brock, Evan, Seth, and Bret).  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucy Goley, brothers (Henry, Fred, Charles “Gene” and Roger) and sisters (Lorena Collins, Ada Kubin, Polly Nelson and Lil Reno).

Don leaves behind a legacy of love and will be profoundly missed.

His service will be held at Flowers Leedy and Allen Funeral Homes, 105 W 3rd St, Peru, Indiana on Saturday, January 31, 2026. The visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00PM.  The Funeral Service will be at 12:00PM followed by a Burial Service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.
