Devita Rose (Garber) Ogle

Devita Rose Ogle, Kokomo and formerly of Bunker Hill, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 12, 2023. While her families’ hearts are broken they are also joyful as her ultimate healing is complete and she is able to walk again beside Jesus and all her loved ones that went before her.

Devita was born on October 16, 1930, to Charles and Mae Forrest Waisner Garber in Bunker Hill. She graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1948 and married Gordon Ogle on July 1, 1949. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Deer Creek Do-Ettes for over 60 years and a lifetime member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. She retired from Delco/General Motors in Kokomo.

She was proud to say she was born and raised in Bunker Hill. She lived there until 2012 when she moved to Northwoods Commons in Kokomo. Playing games and spending time with friends at Northwoods were activities she loved.

Devita enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt as well as spending time with friends and family. Traveling to Hawaii and Switzerland were two highlights of her many vacations.

Devita is survived by her children Vicki (Geoff) Ward, Cathy (John) DeWald, Becky (David) Bentz and Sara Rogers. Grandchildren are Erin (Randy) Wynn, Erika (Nick) Toman, Kyla Ward, Stephanie (Austin) Schultz, Kurt (Cassie) DeWald, Lindsey (Jay) Leedy, Cory (Ian) Sullivan, Jenna (Tim) Schultz, Ashley Blackman and grandson-in-law Anthony Roberson. Great grandchildren are Ryleigh and Cuyler O’Malley, Bellamy Sullivan, Evan Toman, Meredith and Eleanor DeWald, Addelyn Herche, Grayson Trepanier, Maddox and Amelia Leedy, Steele Schultz, Brooklyn and Hunter Roberson and Emma, Ethan and Eli Schultz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Devita was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amanda Roberson and siblings Lawrence Garber, Kathryn Garber Betzner, Charles Garber Jr. and Madelyn Garber Schriver.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 11:00-1:00 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church/Bunker Hill Community Church. Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 with Pastor Evan Strong officiating. Burial will take place at Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Amanda Roberson Scholarship Fund at Ross, Ohio schools in memory of Devita’s granddaughter or to Bunker Hill Community Church, formerly Bunker Hill UMC.
