Darrell Delano Wright, 84, of Denver, passed away peacefully November 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Middletown, OH but spent most of his early life in Powell County Kentucky with his parents (Robert Henry Wright and Minnie Lou Wright (Spencer)) and 12 siblings. Although he spent most of his adult life in Indiana, Kentucky always held a special place in his heart. Darrell was a proud Marine for 21 years and served in Vietnam and Dessert Storm. He spent his professional life as a machinist at Ebert’s in Peru where they basically had to force him to retire. He enjoyed “tinkering around” in the garage, projects, and most importantly-spending time with the ones that he loved. A fun, caring, goofy, go getter of a man that never failed to put a smile on everyone’s face.
What he was most proud of was his family. He is survived by his children: Darrell Dwayne (Mary) Wright of Denver, Becky (Eric) McIntire of Rochester, and Richard Wright of Berne, as well as his 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, all 12 siblings, daughter Betty Lou Bragg, and wife of 56 years Linda Lou Wright (Sparks).
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm with a funeral service following at 3:00pm on Wednesday November 30, 2022, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third Street, Peru, Indiana. The family is saddened by his passing but as he would say, “that’s just the way it goes”.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to sign the online guestbook and leave a memory at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com
