Cora L. Springer, 84, of Peru, affectionately known as “Daniel Boone,” was born on the 25th of October 1935 in Nettleton, Mississippi to the late Ananias and Nancy (White) Walton. She attended Wren High School in Nettleton, Mississippi. Cora married Gilbert Springer and he survives.
Mrs. Springer accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at a young age and was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Kokomo, Indiana.
She is survived by her husband and their children: Gilbert Springer Jr. of Bowling Green, KY, Richard E. (Lisa) Springer of Peru, Teresa Stewart of Tipton, Bobby D. Springer of Peru, Jacqueline Springer of Tupelo, MS, Barbara L. Austin of Blue Springs, MO, Reginald Springer of Walton, IN, and granddaughter Monik Springer of Kokomo, IN. Also, brothers Hollie Walton of Peru, and James Walton of Kokomo; and sisters, Alberta Wilson, Henrietta Lee, and Ginnie Terry, all of Peru. Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Timmy T. Springer, brothers Ananias Walton Jr., John J. Walton, Josiah Walton, and Walter Lee Walton, and sisters Willie Ambrose and Mary Cill.
Brief visits by friends will be welcomed during our family visitation from 9-9:30am followed by a private family service from 9:30-10:30am on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. All are welcome to attend a graveside service that will follow at 11:00am at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport, Indiana, with Pastor Climmon Davis officiating. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face coverings and social distancing will be required.
