Obituary

Clara Elizabeth Wilson McComas, 91 of Aviston, IL and formerly of Terre Haute, IN and Logansport, IN, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2022 at Aviston Countryside Manor.

She was born on September 17,1930 in Logansport. IN., the daughter of Dewey and Helen Hopper Wilson. She graduated Logansport High School in 1948 and was a loyal Logansport Berry Alumni. She was married to Charles (Bill) William McComas of Peru, IN on April 23, 1950. They met on a blind date arranged by their friends. After marrying Bill, she concentrated on raising a family and being a homemaker. Clara was a member of the American Red Cross and a Gray Lady at Memorial Hospital in Logansport. She also volunteered at the local Girl Scouts, Logansport Schools and PTA. Clara was an avid reader and was always reading books. She also enjoyed other hobbies of sewing, travel, dance, bingo, cards, painting rooms and wine. Clara loved music and she had many favorite songs. Stardust, Moonlight Serenade and her and Bill’s song I Only Have Eyes for You. She was a huge Barry Manilow and Big Band Fan, especially Glen Miller. Her favorite color was blue and she loved anything that color. Clara was very proud and loved her family very much and talked of them often.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey and his wife Karen of Carmel, IN; a daughter Laura McComas Eckstein Frerking of New Baden, IL; grandchildren, Zachary McComas of Walton, IN, Jeremy McComas and wife Angela of Kokomo, IN, Matthew McComas and wife Amber of Pendleton, IN; Heather Howard of Brazil, IN and Austin Eckstein of Brazil, IN. , 4 great grandchildren Nathan and Nolan McComas of Kokomo, IN and Ava and Brody Roeschlein of Brazil, IN.; Sister in law Penny and Bob Mills of Warsaw, IN and several cousins, nephews and nieces. While she lived in Illinois by her daughter, she developed a very special friendship with Evelyn Frerking of New Baden, IL. She was always very happy to talk and share with her and valued her friendship deeply. Clara also loved her son-in-law Kevin Frerking and was very proud of him with his farming and pulling career and spoke of him often.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister, Violet Lorraine Wilson Barlow, brother, Paul Junior Wilson; in-laws, Charles and Ethel Lighty McComas, sister in law and brother in law Pamela McComas Dolce and Steve and several other family members.

Clara wanted everyone to know not to be sad when she passed as she had a very good and happy life and she was ready to go be with Bill. She was a very kind and loving person and cherished everyone that she came in contact with in her life.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel, 8315 East Logansport Road, Logansport, Indiana. Funeral service will follow from 11am to 12pm. Burial will take place at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Indiana.
