Carmon Aileen Hunter who was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, at Brownsburg Meadows Nursing Facility, Brownsburg, Indiana. She was 93.
Aileen was born on May 10, 1931, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Mildred (Cabe) and Carmon Glessner. Aileen was a graduate of Peru High School in 1949 and Cosmetology School and went on to be a licensed beautician. She married the love of her life James Hunter in 1952 and he preceded her in death in March 1996. She loved her family deeply and was always there for them.
She was a member of the First Christian Church for over 50 years and she faithfully served as a deaconess and enjoyed visiting the shut ins. She also attended Peru Church of the Brethren for several years until she moved to Brownsburg. Aileen loved socializing, playing card games, and traveling with family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren who always put a smile on her face.
Aileen is survived by her 4 children, Tim (Debbie) Hunter of Peru, Kimberly (Curt) Bretzman of Brownsburg, Todd (Katie) Hunter of Brownsburg, and Scott (Amy) Hunter of Avon. Also, nine grandchildren: Kevin, Candy, Angie, Alan, Katie, Zack, Leighton, Trevor, and Abby. Fifteen great grandchildren. Surviving is one brother, Morris (RuthAnn) Glessner of Georgia and preceding her in death are 3 brothers, Jackie Glessner, Gerald Glessner and Ronald Glessner and one great grandchild, Lucas Bell.
Visitation will be held from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday, August, 7, 2024 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru. The funeral service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Scot Caley officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Aileen’s honor.
