Bonnie Irene Brooks, 91, of Peru, passed away at 2:04pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at her residence.
She was born in Logansport, Indiana on January 30, 1930 to Charles Todd and Maude Joy (Gruwell) Boyer. She married Cecil Brooks, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2008. Bonnie retired from Peru Community Schools as a cafeteria worker. She was a great cook (especially making her sweet rolls). She enjoyed spending time with family and going out to eat. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Peru.
She is survived by her children: Toni (J.O.) Buffington of Peru, Debbie (Steve) Maxwell of London, OH, Joe Brooks (Carol Fox) of Kokomo, and Brian (Kellie) Brooks of Bunker Hill; as well as grandchildren: J.O. Buffington Jr., Rachel Higgins, Brooks Myers, Stefanie Cunningham, Jason Maxwell, Joey Brooks, Jada Morgan, Heidi Bradfield, Gatlin Brooks, and Kevin Brumbaugh; and many great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Jean Ramer of Mississippi, and Goldie Wilson of Beavers Dam, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Bob Boyer, James Boyer, and Bud Boyer, and sister Elizabeth Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the funeral home, with Pastor Tony Winter and Pastor Mark Elliott officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
