Betty Jane Mullett

Betty Jane Mullett, 98, of Peru, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru.

She was born on June 9, 1922 to Samuel and Irene (Hedrick) Whitcomb.  She married Victor Mullett on February 6, 1943.  He preceded her in death on September 8, 1995.

She was a 1940 graduate of Peru High School, and retired from the PHS cafeteria.  She loved playing bingo at Miami Bingo, playing cards with her friends, eating out with the Carriage Club.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society of the YMCA, the Miller’s Merry Manor Auxiliary, and the Eagles Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Truly Mullett of Peru, and Tanee Rodenbeck of Columbus, and one son, Kerry (Joe) Mullett of Peru; as well as grandchildren Don Sparks (Michelle), Ron Sparks, Rebecca Serdar (Lyle), Brandi Malott Wilhoit (Michael), Jason Rodenbeck, and Jessica Rodenbeck; and great-grandchildren Logan Sparks, Dawson Sparks, Jared Sparks, Khloe Sparks, Trevor Brown (Shelby), Tiara Benedict, Lauren Hartleroad, Lillyan Hartleroad, and Olivia Coyne; and great-great-grandchildren Marlie Brown and Hazel Brown. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Comer, Margaret “Peg” Hedrick, and Ruth Whitcomb, brother Charles Whitcomb, and great-grandchild Dominick Sparks.

A private service celebrating the life of Betty Jane Mullett will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  A private viewing will be held prior to the service.  Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
