Betty Delene (Logan) Hamman

Betty Delene Hamman, 88, of Peru passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Betty was born on October 13, 1934 in Hartford City, Indiana to William Hubert and Mary (Fuller) Logan.  She married Lemoine Bowman in March 1953 and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1969. Betty later married James “Jim” H. Hamman Jr. on December 10, 1989 and he also preceded her in death on March 22, 2017.

Betty was a longtime resident of Peru. She retired from JC Penny's after 25 years of  employment.  She was an active member of the Oakdale Baptist Church. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society and she served as a Pink Lady at Dukes Memorial Hospital. Betty enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her children: David Bowman of Peru, Mayla (Larry) Snyder of Peru, and Joyce Lowe of Peru; also surviving are brothers, John William (Patsy) Logan and Charles Robert Logan all of Hartford City, and sisters, Mamie Hasty and Mary Jane Holtzleiter both of Hartford City. Betty also has 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and son-in-law Guy Lowe.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 12:00-2:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Adam Linkenhoker officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oakdale Baptist Church.
