Betty Lou (Dowell) Gapski

Betty Lou (Dowell) Gapski, 77, of Peru passed away at her residence on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

She was born in Lodiburg, Kentucky on January 2, 1948 to the late William Dowell and Hazel Jean Clemons. Betty retired from Kuepper Favor where she worked as a printer.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed fishing and coloring. She adored all cats she encountered, whether they were her own or others around the neighborhood. Betty also enjoyed watching The Big Bang Theory. She was known for being very loving and giving. With her kind heart, she found the best in people and would help anyone in need.

She is survived by her children; Keven Hunt of St. Libory, Illinois, Stephanie Baber of Peru, Indiana, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and sisters; Nita Pope of Peru, Cherri Briscoe of Peru, and Denise Price of Texas.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Dave Gapski and daughter, Rachelle Dodge.

A time of visiting and celebrating Betty’s life will be held from 10am to noon on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, 411 North Grant Street, Peru.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Scratching Post Cat Rescue, 104 S. Miami Street, Peru, Indiana 46970.
