Barbara Cooley Obituary

Barbara Ann Cooley (Crain) 91, entered into eternal rest on December 10, 2022 at Blair Ridge Health Campus.

She was born May 31, 1931 to Harold and Verna (Mellinger) Crain in South Bend, Indiana. On December 8, 1947, she married Clarence Cooley, he preceded her in death on July 27, 2019.

Surviving are daughters; Janet Cooley of Naples, Florida, Sharon Cooley of Peru, Indiana, son, Patrick Cooley and wife Christian of Peru, Indiana. Barbara was a grandmother of six, Kelley (Ryan) Barkell, Elizabeth (Charles) Bellar, Kristen (Nathan) Betzner, Jessup, Elspeth, and Laurel Cooley. Great grandchildren Elijah and Vada Barkell, Kash, Lyla, and Reis Bellar and Katherine Martindale.

Barbara attended Peru High School and graduated from Wright’s Beauty College, she was a fulltime wife and mother. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, involved in the choir as well as Gateway Care Bear Ministry.

Barbara had a passion for music and theater. She was a member of the Ole Olson Theater group and performed in South Pacific, Finians Rainbow Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma, West Side Story, Mame and Music Man.

She participated in the Tri-Kappa Follies and Cole Porter Reviews.

A celebration of life will be held at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel from 10am to 11am on Thursday, December 29, 2022. The funeral service will follow at 11am.

Memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International in Barbara’s memory.
