Anna “Ann” F. Lawson 84, of Peru passed away on Saturday August 17, 2024 at Blair Ridge surrounded by loved ones.
Anna was born on December 6, 1939 to the late June and Roscoe Hight. She was born and raised in the Peru area. She worked for gypsum later known as thermafiber for 21 years and later on before retirement as a cleaning lady for the Tracks End Restaurant.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, sister (the oldest sister out of 7 siblings), grandma, great grandma, aunt, and friend. She was married to the late Albert Lawson. Anna was a woman of many things including that smile that could light up the room even when times are hard. She would not let you leave without giving you a hug. Them hugs just had that magic touch. She and Al traveled all over and just made the most out of life. She was an avid IU college basketball fan, her brother has taken her to a few games. As life got simpler and slowed down she enjoyed sitting on her back porch in her rocker watching her pond her husband and grandsons built. She loved sunflowers; loved bird watching, loved to read and tell stories of her younger days. Ann was always busy doing a crossword as well. She loved her antique glassware and her raggedy Ann dolls, she was proud of that kind of thing, Ann loved listening to Elvis. If it was Christmas time we would be listening to that Christmas album. She kept her freezer stocked with ice cream, either ice cream cones, popsicles and or push-ups. She kept that tradition going on with the great grandkids too. She was a woman who was proud of her family and always helped her family if needed. Ann was just one of the sweetest souls you would have known. She had a niece “tink” that was like another child to her. She also has two grandkids who were like her own as well. All the grandkids called her Nanny.
With the late Albert Lawson passing away in January; their children survive, two daughters and a son; Lori Goshert of Peru, IN, Sherry Wright of Peru, IN and their son Alan “Duel” Lawson and his wife Terri of Akron, IN. Along with their children their grandkids survive, Anthony “Tony” Whitcomb and wife Mary of Kokomo, IN; Nick Steele and wife Trisha of Mexico, IN; Duely Lawson and wife Kristina of Deedsville, IN; Tracy Wibel and husband Mark of Peru, IN; Sheena Burns and husband Jonathan of Twelve Mile, IN; Sarah Smith along with husband Travis Smith Peru, IN Mattie Mathias and her husband Eric of Mexico, Indiana.
With Seven grandchildren, she’s survived by 28 great grandchildren, and loved every single one of them. She would always say I’m the Great grandma because I’m the greatest.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband Albert Lawson, Her parents June and Roscoe Hight, her sister Christy Barr, her in laws Dwey and Venie Lawson. Her son in law Joe Wright.
A celebration of life will be held on August 22, 2024, visitation 1-2pm and service right at 2, at the Church of God, 360 Harrison Avenue Peru, Indiana 46970 with Pastor Adam Wolfe officiating the service.
