Alpha Jean Dinkel, 89, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, June 26, 2023 with her loving family by her side.
Jean was born to Floyd and Laura (Baker) Willis on December 6, 1933 in Powell County, Kentucky. She married George Dinkel on April 1, 1997 and they have shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. Jean was retired from Olin’s Corporation. She was a member of Zion Chapel Church where she was very actively involved until she got sick.
Jean is survived by her husband, George, of Peru and daughter, Debra “Debbe” Shaffer (Kenneth Ward) of Logansport, Indiana. Also surviving is grandson, Jamison (Amy) Shaffer of Rochester, Indiana; 2 great grandchildren, Jordan Shaffer and Johnnie McCarty; and 4 great-great grandchildren: Grayson Shaffer, Roxie McCarty, Rosie McCarty, and Ryleigh Jo McCarty. Jean is also survived by her fur baby and much loved dog, Tana.
She was preceded in passing by her parents and 9 siblings: Joe, Coin, Trulen, Floyd Jr., Mary, Eula, Lennie, Nola, and Elsie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 11:00am -2:00pm at the Zion Chapel Church, 915 South Broadway, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
