Albert “Al” D. Lawson, 85, of Peru passed away on Sunday January 14, 2024 at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, Indiana surrounded by many loved ones.
Albert was born on February 5, 1938 to the late Dewey and Venie Lawson. He grew up in Alabama and there is where he enlisted into the Air Force and was stationed at Grissom Air Force Base. He worked as a maintenance man at Thermafiber until he was able to retire.
He loved working in his yard, planting flowers and making a garden. He enjoyed watching his pond he built with some of his grandkids 20 years ago. He was an avid fisherman, let’s just say he was a fish whisper, He could catch anything on that line once it was casted out. He could catch a big bass in a mud puddle if he threw a line in there. He was always busy building something and or turning nothing into something. He was a very crafty woodworker as well; most of the family has something built by him. He was very involved with his children, grandchildren and even his great grandchildren. He was always helping someone if they needed it because if he helped someone, he hoped they could return the favor one day back to someone else that needed it. Albert was a husband and loved his wife dearly and they were married for 68 years this past August.
In addition to his loving wife Anna Lawson, he is survived by all his children; Lori Goshert of Peru, In , Sherry Wright of Peru In, and son Alan “Duely” Lawson and his wife Terri of Akron, In. Along with his children he is also survived by his grandkids, Anthony “Tony” Whitcomb and wife Mary of Kokomo, In , Nick Steele and his wife Trisha of Mexico, In, Duely Lawson and his wife Kristina of Deedsville, In, Tracy Wibel and husband Mark of Peru, In, Sheena Burns and husband Jonathan Twelve Mile, IN, Sarah Smith along with husband Travis of Peru, IN, Mattie Mathias and her husband Eric of Mexico, In.
Along with his grandchildren he is also survived by 28 great grandkids, and several brother and sister in laws that he was very close to and considered them his own family.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents Dwey and Venie Lawson,His brother and sister Dwey and Gladis Lawson. His sister in law Christy Barr and his son in law Joe Wright.
