Abbey Caldwell Obituary

Abbey Michelle Caldwell, 33, born October 1, 1987 in Peru Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 5:21PM in her home in Peru.

Surviving Abbey are the absolute loves of her life, her two sons, Colton Caldwell and Julian Caldwell. Other surviving members of the family include Diana Caldwell (mother) and Chuck Caldwell (father); Bob and Lora Kanippe (Uncle and Aunt — Peru, Indiana); Pam and Greg Price (Aunt and Uncle — Warsaw, Indiana); cousins Collin Price and Paige Price (Wilmington, North Carolina); Randy Conliff (father of Colton — Westville, Indiana); Roger Conrad (father of Julian —Monroe City, Indiana); and Jay and Joyce Conrad (Grandparents of Julian — Vincennes, Indiana). Further, Abbey is survived by both her birth parents, half-brothers and half-sisters, many cousins, and friends from throughout Indiana.

All four of her grandparents — Verlon and Gerlene Caldwell along with Bert and Evelyn Kanippe —preceded Abbey in death.

Abbey had many passions throughout her short life. Among these were of course spending time with and playing with her sons. Further, she had an extensive ability for creating music as she played the french horn, the double french horn, piano, and guitar as well as to a lesser degree, other musical instruments; all while also participating in the North Miami choir. This gift allowed her the opportunity to begin playing with the North Miami High School Marching Bard while only in the 7th grade. Because of her talents, she also was selected to play in the Indiana Middle School Symphony Orchestra (double french horn) which was comprised of approximately 200 students from across Indiana.

She had many other joys in her life which included fishing (a sport in which she outdid her Grandpa Kanippe at the tender age of 7 which caused him to attempt to bribe her to say he had caught the largest fish — it didn't work); swimming; playing with friends; and hiking as many trails as she could throughout the Indiana State Park system — often with her children and friends. Finally, Abbey loved attending musical concerts with her friends and family as often as possible.
