Robert Wesley Burrous

Robert Wesley Burrous passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 9:22pm surrounded by loving family.  Bob has joined his beautiful Marie, wrapped in the arms of the Lord.

Bob was born in Peru, Indiana on January 2, 1934 to Anthony and Cleo Burrous, who preceded him in death.  Bob took great delight in telling everyone that he was born on 1234.  Bob served in the United States Army, mostly in France.  He married Marie Bailey on December 16, 1961.  They both worked at General Tire in Wabash.  After retirement, Bob and Marie loved to travel, traveled the world, and spent most of their winters in Florida.  Bob was a friendly, outgoing fellow who never knew a stranger.  He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally.

In addition to his parents and his loving wife Marie, Bob was preceded in death by his brother Carl and sister Jean (Tom) Reinking.  He is survived by his sister Donna (Wayne Jones), his daughters Ellen (Steve) Sawyer, Sheila (William) Planck, Therese (Mark) Watkins, and Lori (Donald) Richmond).  Also, grandchildren Olivia, Amy, Jeremy, Sarah, Erica, Nick, Tara, Mark Joseph, Andrew, Jared, Lacy, and Chloe; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many of Marie’s family.  He loved them all deeply.

Family and friends may call from 4pm – 7pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Parkview United Methodist Church, 1785 State Road 19, Peru, Indiana.  Per Bob’s wishes, he will be cremated and buried along with his Marie at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 2751 Albright Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, or to the Miami County Military Rites Team.
