Merlin Ray “Pops” Wilkinson, 84, of Peru passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Blair Ridge Health Campus.
He was born in Veedersburg, Indiana on January 13, 1935 to Lawrence and Gladys (Booe) Wilkinson. He married Elizabeth Jane (Williams) Wilkinson, and she preceded him in death on May 28, 1988. Pops retired as a mechanic from US 31 Auto Salvage.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Michele) Wilkinson of Peru, as well as four grandchildren: Vaughn (Jenn) Ansel, Brandon (Brittany) Wilkinson, Norton McGiffin V and Alicia (fiancé Brian Vandeyacht) McGiffin; and six great-grandchildren. Also, brothers Billy Wilkinson and Larry (Vinnie) Wilkinson and Brother-In-Law, Carl Childress.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings: Loris Wilkinson, Lester (Margaret) Wilkinson), Richard (Claudine) Wilkinson, Robert (Treva) Wilkinson, Ellen (Paul) Carter, Loreda (James) Calvert, Carolyn Childress, and Margie (Carl) Crowder.
Visitation will be held from 10am – 12pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 12pm, with Brother Alton Johns officiating. Burial will take place at West Lebanon Cemetery in West Lebanon, Indiana.
