MAX TUCKER Obituary

Max E. Tucker, 89, of Peru, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born in Howard County on March 16, 1930 to Albert Louie and Icy (Graves) Tucker.  Max served as a medic in the Korean War (1950-1952), and later retired as an inspector from Chrysler.  On June 16, 2001, he married Jane A. (Glass) Tucker, and she survives.

In his spare time, Max enjoyed repairing old lamps and doing restorations.  A guitar player, he also enjoyed singing and playing gospel music at church and at nursing homes.  He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser, Indiana, and he loved to make people laugh.

Max is survived by his wife Jane, and his children: Kent (Kim) Tucker of Kokomo, Jerry Tucker of Kokomo, Jeffrey (Heather) Tucker of Noblesville, and daughter-in-law Pam Tucker of Kokomo, as well as step-children Troy A. (Kelly) Mills of Mexico, Lori (Rocky) Ash of Hanover, and Scott (Jennifer) Kaufman of Cicero.  Also, aunt Mary Jane Smelser of Walton.  Also, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are brothers Ruble Tucker of Kokomo, Herman (Cathy) Tucker of Galveston, Virgil (Kathleen) Tucker of Kokomo, Louie (Peggy) Tucker of Peru, and Lonnie (Marilee) Tucker of Kokomo; and sisters Judy Bouse of Kokomo, Thelma (Richard) Roundtree of Florida, Janet (John) Trent of Frankfort, Wanda Lanham of Tennessee, and Alberta Huffer of Kokomo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Kirk Tucker, brothers Ernest Tucker, Earl Tucker, Joe Tucker, and Lincoln Tucker; and sister Delores Thacher.  Also, 3 brothers-in-law Bob Bouse, Alan Huffer, and Harold Thacher.

Visitation will be held from 5pm – 8pm on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church Street, Sweetser, Indiana.  Funeral service will be held at the church at 10am on Saturday, June 8, 2019 with Pastor Terry Bishir officiating.  Burial will take place at New Hope / Ellis Cemetery, Union Township Howard County, on Highway 26, south of Greentown, Indiana.
