Lucille Huddleston Obituary

Lucille Burneda Huddleston, 92, passed away peacefully at 12:33 pm on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor in Peru, Indiana. Lucille was born August 6, 1926 to Otto and Nellie (Ammerman) Lesley in Converse, Indiana, and lived in the Peru area most of her life. She graduated from Peru High School.

Lucille married Carl (Bud) Black and had a family of four children. She later married Howard (Toby) Huddleston.

She is survived by a brother, Norman (Mac) and wife Uva Lesley; a son Terry Black, daughter Lana (Mike) Bullock, and daughter Jayne Black. She has six surviving grandchildren: Peter(Alex) Bullock, Stacey Bullock, Jesse Bullock, Jason Bullock, Davina (Chris) Haywood, and Adam (Cindy) Black. Her greatgrandchildren include: Whitney (Alex) Rodgers, Stephanie Stinson, Elizabeth Brooke Stubbs, Sarah (Tanner) Hoyle, Samuel Haywood, Ashley (Blake) Douglas, Alexandra Black, and Kyle Black. Lucille has 4 great, great grandchildren: Twins Hannah and Shiloh Dibble, Ruby Ann Bliss Rodgers, and Camden Douglas. She has many nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents: Otto and Nellie Lesley; her husbands: Carl Black and Howard Huddleston; her brothers: William, Robert, Reginald, and James Lesley; her sisters: Mary Etta Lesley, Marcella Jones, Norma Gearhart, and Emma Stanley; a son, Wayne Black and a grandson, Aaron Black.

Lucille has been a member of the Peru Church of the Brethren since the early 50's. She held several leadership positions throughout the years. Her first love was Jesus, and she loved her church family dearly. She chose to love everyone who entered her life.

Gardening was one of the things Lucille enjoyed very much, and would love to show her flowers to visitors. She cooked well, and enjoyed sewing and making crafts. But most of all, Lucille enjoyed music! She played a few small instruments, and she sang beautifully. She was known for phoning loved ones on their birthday and singing Happy Birthday to them.

Lucille was a hard worker, both at home, and her place of employment. She helped build two of her homes, and managed them well. She worked in a couple of factories when she was younger; and later, because she was a caring woman, she took working positions that allowed her to help with children and the elderly.
