Larry Ellers

Larry Ellers, 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.

He was born on February 13, 1946 to Harrell D. and Blanche Marie (Powell) Ellers.  Larry had been a resident at Hickory Creek at Peru since November, 1992. Both Larry and his beloved mother were residents at Hickory Creek until her passing.

Larry so loved his Lord Jesus Christ. When pastors or music groups would come to sing, Larry would clap his hands and he would make his joyful sound. Larry could not talk but only a very few single words. But, his love for the Lord would overflow from his heart with the most beautiful sound you could ever hear.

Larry began his job service at Bona Vista in October of 1994 and continued there as a client until his passing. He would get upset if he could not go to work because of health reasons or holiday closings. He loved his job and he loved the other clients and the staff at Bona Vista.

Larry would be picked up by our local YMCA Transpiration for his ride to his workplace. They treated Larry with so much kindness and respect. The staff enjoyed the laughter and the special bond they had with Larry.

He enjoyed life to the fullest, he participated many activities. He especially loved attending the in-house church services with Pastor Alton John, bingo, sitting outside on the deck, and he really looked forward every year to the men's Hickory Creek fishing outing.

Larry's amazing, kind loving sister-in-law, Rhoda Ellers would never miss his birthdays or any other holiday. She would always come to see him and bring him gifts of love. Rhoda loved Larry so much.

The staff, volunteers and residents at Hickory Creek at Peru will miss their kind-hearted, gentle, loving spirited godly man. Everyone loved him beyond all measurements. Larry had been a family member to all at Hickory Creek for twenty-seven years, and as much as all of them loved Larry, he loved them just as much. Everyone at Hickory Creek at Peru were honored to care for this amazing man.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel, Cass County (Logansport), Indiana.  Family and friends may call one hour prior to service.  Brother Alton Johns will officiate.
