Joyce D. Yates

Joyce D. Yates, 82, of Peru, Indiana went to her eternal home on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

Joyce was born in Evanston, Illinois on September 2, 1937 to Ethel (Kaehler) and Edward Moorhouse. She graduated high school. She then got married and moved to Texas, Indiana, Greece, North Dakota, and then to Peru, Indiana, where she stayed.  She was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the women’s auxiliary of the VFW, and she was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, where she held the offices of President, and a 5th District President.

She married Raymond R. Yates on June 30, 1957. He preceded her in death September 19, 2009.

Surviving family include a son, Ronald R. Yates, a son Kenneth R. Yates and wife Donna, a daughter Trina R. Yates, and a daughter Genevieve M. Yates.  Also surviving are her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and one grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 4pm – 7pm on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Graveside service will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel, in Logansport, Indiana.  Pastor Kenneth Greenwald will officiate.
