Diana Elizabeth Pugh

Diana Elizabeth Pugh, 72, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019.

She was born on November 23, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa.  The daughter of John W. Jackson and Flora Ruth (Love) Jackson.  She was reared by her grandparents, Rev. Ralph W. Jackson and Augusta C. Jackson in Peru and Mount Vernon, Indiana.  A 1965 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, she attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama for two years.

She retired from Ameritech Indiana in 1995 after 24 years of service.  She was employed by Eye Physicians, Inc. as an optician.

Preceding her in death were her mother, father, grandparents, and two brothers, William H. Abbey and James Jackson.  Surviving are her three children: Johnene L. Hawkins (Brian) and John Pugh Jr. of Kokomo, IN, and Amber C. Pugh, MD of Charlotte, NC.  Also, her sisters: Patricia McCroy (Stan), Tracey Sykes of Peru, Piper Jackson of Peru, and Tamara Redd of Indianapolis, IN.  Also, three grandchildren: Ashtin Pugh, and Deshawn and Denvonta Hawkins.  She also had five great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is longtime companion Lawrence Meriweather of Kokomo, IN.  She also leaves behind two uncles, one aunt, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Her beloved dog, Lola, survives her, as well.

Funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Wayman AME Church, 201 East Third Street, Peru, Indiana, with Rev. Maurice Reed officiating.
