DAVID ADKINS

On Sunday, December 30, 2018 our precious, beloved David went to be with his Heavenly Father and meet all who went before him - mother, father, brother, niece, and many, many friends. David was blind since birth, so for the first time, he will actually SEE his mom and dad, friends, and the beauty of Heaven… and most importantly, JESUS.

David was born in Grayson, Kentucky on April 26, 1953 to Harlan and Lois Adkins, both deceased. David moved to Miami County in his youth. He attended Indiana School for the Blind in Indianapolis. After graduating, Dave held several positions as a radio personality and DJ. For anyone who knew Dave, these were perfect roles, as they allowed him to talk and engage with people and work with music. For the majority of David's life, he has taken his talent for music across the country by spreading the gospel to a multitude of nursing homes, churches and benefits. He was also a member of The New Jerusalem Band for many years. Dave was currently a member of The Liberty Gospel Mission Church of Amboy and dearly loved his church friends.

David lost his life due to a long, courageous battle with diabetes.

David is survived by one son, Travis Adkins, Huntington. One brother, Wade Adkins (Dorothy), Peru. Three sisters, Cathie Browning (Leonard), Peru, Donna Eikenberry (Stan), Mexico and Glenna Riddell, Peru.  Also, many extended family members and not to forget his many, many friends that are considered family.

Each and every one of us that were connected to this kind, beautiful, amazing soul will never forget his desire to reach out to all of us to follow the Lord and meet him in Heaven.

It is time to pay tribute to this beautiful Christian man and celebrate his life.

Join us at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10am until 2pm for viewing, with funeral following and Pastor Jennings officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
