Danny Lee Mooney, 86, of Peru, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
The son of the late Charles Clifford and Anna Mary (Fenton) Mooney, he was born on November 16, 1933 in Peru, Indiana. In 1959, he married Carol Mooney and she preceded him in death on June 20, 2019. He is survived by his children: Melissa (Tom) Carter of Peru, Danny Mooney of Peru, and Mark (Tammy) Mooney of St. Louis, Missouri. Also, grandchildren: Daniel Mooney, Matthew Mooney, Anna Mooney, and Jessica Carter; as well as sibling, Rick (Sally) Mooney. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers: Charles “Chuck”, Tom, Dick, Richard, and Larry; and one sister, Janice.
Dan was a graduate of Peru High School in Peru, Indiana. After graduating high school he joined the military. He was a Marine during the Korean war. Alongside his brothers, they ran the Echo Service Station for many years. He then later retired from Big R in Peru. Dan enjoyed sitting in his favorite recliner eating nutty bars and drinking coffee with the occasional ice cream. Dan also enjoyed helping others and was always offering a pop or water to whomever came to the house, making them feel as welcomed as possible. He was always very friendly to everyone and never knew a stranger. Dan was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
