Curtis J. Ramsey, 89, Bunker Hill, died at 1:00 pm, Wednesday November 21, 2018 at home with his family surrounding him. He was born in Peru, Indiana on December 21, 1928 to Gilbert and Josephine (Clauve) Ramsey, and he graduated from Clay Township High School in Miami County in 1946. On September 4, 1948 he married Mary Marie Myers, who preceded him in death
Curtis was retired from Delco and farmed for many years. He was a member of the Miami United Methodist Church. He and Mary Marie spent many winters at Braden Castle, Bradenton Florida where they met many new friends and got reacquainted with several old friends. They loved their grandchildren and great grandchildren. When the grandchildren were present they were the focus of their attention. They loved doing special projects with them. The grandchildren remember sleepovers, annual family campouts and trips to the Michigan dunes. Curtis loved his church and supported his family there in all their pursuits. He was known for his gentle spirit and humility.
Curtis is survived his daughters Jane Ann (Rex) Hopper, Kokomo, and Rita (John) Keb, Mishawaka; son, Dean (Mary) Ramsey, Galveston: seven grandchildren Nicholas (Melissa) Hopper, Cypress Texas, Amanda (Corey) McGarrell, Indianapolis, Josh Hopper, Bunker Hill, Andy (Sara) Keb, Charlotte, North Carolina, Katie (Greg) Anderson, Zionsville, Ryan (Alyssa) Ramsey, Greenville, Michigan and McKayla Ramsey, Galveston; eleven great-grandchildren Brynne Hopper, Delaney Hopper, Colin Hopper, Marissa McGarrell, Tucker McGarrell, Elijah Anderson, Jude Anderson, Naomi Anderson, Oliver Anderson, Emery Ramsey and Willow Ramsey; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Ronnie and Carolyn Waters, Waterloo, IA and Warren and Pat Hardwick, Peru.
Curtis was preceded in death by his wife Mary Marie, his parents, one infant daughter, Linda, and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 4pm – 8pm on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Allen Funeral Home, 136 South Elm Street, Bunker Hill, Indiana. Family and friends may also call one hour prior to funeral service, which will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Miami United Methodist Church, 10590 South Elm Street, Miami, Indiana. Rev. K.M. Lord will officiate. Burial will take place in the Galveston Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the GiGi Playhouse Downs Syndrome Achievement Center in Indianapolis.
