Carol Ann Mooney, 80, of Peru, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019.
The daughter of the late Robert and Maurine (Dugger) Newsom, she was born on November 26, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1959, she married Danny L. Mooney, who survives. She is also survived by her children: Melissa (Tom) Carter of Peru, Danny Mooney of Peru, and Mark (Tammy) Mooney of St. Louis, Missouri. Grandchildren: Daniel Mooney, Matthew Mooney, Anna Mooney, and Jessica Carter. Siblings: Rebecca (John) Sumner of Indianapolis and Robert II (Bronna) Newsom of Brownsburg.
Carol was a graduate of Rockville High School in Rockville, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with her master’s in education. She was a second grade teacher at Elmwood Elementary School in Peru for 30 years. Carol enjoyed going to lunch with her retired teacher friends on Thursdays with the “Lunch Bunch” and many special friends. She also enjoyed taking special trips to Steak ‘n Shake and Kohls with her sister-in-law every chance she could. Carol was an avid churchgoer. Carol had two cats which she loved, Charlie and Cooper. Carol also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and reading her books. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed talking about them every chance she could get. Her favorite words of wisdom were, “Keep on living. ”
As per Carol’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the Scratching Post Rescue in Peru, Indiana.
