Bobby Dilworth, 72, of Peru, formerly of Grand Rapids, MI, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 7, 2019, after several years of declining health. He was born on March 9, 1947 in Nettleton, MS to the union of Rommie Dilworth and Willie Walton Dilworth. Bobby is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of nearly 48 years; sons, Curtis, Indianapolis, IN; Christopher, Peru, IN; grandchildren, Christopher II, Lafayette, IN; Alyzia, Kansas City, MO; William Trice, III, Ypsilanti, MI; Erica, Kobe and Devon all of Peru.
Bobby spent many years in Grand Rapids, MI, and retired as shop foreman from Vos Glass while there. Previous employment in the Peru area included Peru Foundry, Norfolk & Southern RR and Wilson’s Foods, where he met lifelong friends at all places.
Bobby positively touched many lives and will be sadly missed by his remaining aunts: Alberta Wilson, Henrietta Lee, Gennie Terry and Cora Springer (Gilbert), all of Peru; as well as his special cousins, Indiana Walton, Grand Rapids, MI; and his “favorite cousin” Bessie Walton, Peru.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters: John Dilworth (Donna), Ruben Dilworth, Rex Ambrose (Beckie), Tammy Wilson (Joel, Jr), Gregory Ambrose (Andrea), all of Peru; Catherine Dilworth Powe (Lester Price), Evelyn Rayson (Lawrence), both of Indianapolis; Tanyia Cornelis (Ronald, Jr.), South Bend, IN; Carolyn Sanders (Anthony), Montgomery, AL; Steve Ambrose (Ronda), Logansport, IN; Velma Fuller, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Doris Ann Suggs and Charles Bean, Nettleton, MS.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his “other parents”, to whom he was especially close: step-father, Webster “Bro” Ambrose; biological father, Leonard “Gramp” Bean, and step-mother, Mandy “Mom” Bean, Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a slew of friends mourn his passing.
His funeral services have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Homegoing Services will be held at Zion Chapel Church, 915 S Broadway, Peru, IN 46970, on Saturday, November 16, 2019, 1:00pm, with visitation preceding from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
