Jane Alice (Bender) Slater

Jane Alice (Bender) Slater, 62, of Peru, passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 28, 2024.

She was born in Peru, Indiana to Charles and Wilma (Lawrence) Bender on May 9, 1961. Jane was a 1979 graduate of Peru High School.

Jane married Ken Slater on June 30, 1990 and he survives.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Jane was a homemaker. She loved to crochet and made blankets for anyone that wanted one. Jane enjoyed cooking and could make most things from scratch. She was very artistic and good at building bouquets of flowers and excellent at drawing. She loved to garden. She loved crime shows and would be a listening ear for anyone that needed it.

In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by her children, Matthew Rider (Shannon Strahlem) of Peru, Katherine (Zachary) Sluss of Peru, grandchildren, Taylor Caldwell, Madison Sluss, brother, Mark (Lisa) Bender of Frankfort, Indiana, sisters, Nancy Green of Peru and Cindy Stokdyk of Delphi, Indiana, and brother-in-law, Max Starkey of Peru.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gary Bender, sister, Dana Starkey, and brother-in-law's, William Green and Bruce Stokdyk.

Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru. The funeral service will take place at 11am on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Josiah Black officiating. Burial will take place at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
